Information that identifies you may be shared as follows:
Identifying information you provide in the letter-writing section of the
site is provided to the persons receiving the letters
Contributions and purchases by credit-card are processed by Amazon.com and
PayPal.com, respectively, which receive your information for the purpose of
credit-card processing. That information is subject to those providers' privacy
policies. For contributions, unless you tell Amazon to share your contact
information with us, we receive only the date, time, and amount of the contribution
-- no information about you (so we don't know who made the donation). In any
case, we don't receive your credit-card information.
Except as indicated above, we don't share any user-identifying information
with any other parties. (It is conceivable that we could be forced by legal
action to share information with a government agency.)
When you enter your identifying information on a letter-writing page, it is stored
on the computer you are using. A copy of your letter is sent to us, including
your identifying information; we store those letters on a computer that is physically
disconnected from our Web servers.
We may occasionally send an informative message to users who have provided
their email addresses to this site (e.g., to alert you when a new letter-writing
campaign has been started). We recognize that our users don't want quantities
of unsolicited mail, so we will be extremely judicious about this. You may opt
out of any such mailings by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
